Chair of the Board

Kori L. Stewart, PhD, R.T.(R)(CT), CIIP

Dr. Kori Stewart is the Director of the Radiologic Sciences Program and Associate Professor of Diagnostic Imaging at Quinnipiac University and has been a dedicated educator and technologist since 2009. She holds certifications in radiography, computed tomography, and imaging informatics and has a BS in Diagnostic Imaging and MHS in Medical Laboratory Sciences from Quinnipiac, as well as a PhD in Biomedical (Health) Informatics from Rutgers University.

She is co-author of several textbooks, including Introduction to Radiologic and Imaging Sciences and Patient Care, An Introduction to Imaging Informatics, and the upcoming 7th edition of Principles of Radiographic Imaging: An Art and a Science. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and presented internationally, nationally, and regionally on imaging informatics and patient-centered care, has served on several professional organizations' Board of Directors, and has an endless passion for advancing the profession.

President

Kevin R. Clark, EdD, R.T.(R)(QM), FAEIRS, FASRT

Dr. Kevin Clark is an Associate Professor and Associate Director for the School of Health Professions at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He is also the Founder and CEO of CW Elite, a professional editing and consulting company. Dr. Clark is a top producer of research in the medical imaging and radiation therapy field, authoring more than 100 scholarly and peer-reviewed journal articles since 2014. In 2022, Dr. Clark was elevated to Fellow for the ASRT, making him one of only 18 educators who hold dual fellowships with the ASRT and AEIRS. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the piano, watching the Houston Astros, and baking homemade southern buttermilk biscuits.

President-Elect

Bobbi J. Kowash, MHSc, RDMS, RVT

Bobbi Kowash has been an active member and supporter of AEIRS since 2018, previously serving on the Education Committee. A passionate educator and technologist, Bobbi has shared her classroom and clinical expertise at state and national conferences, in podcast appearances, a one-day seminar for the Colorado Association of Career Colleges and Schools, and numerous clinical instructor meetings.

Bobbi currently serves as a Clinical Solutions Consultant for Philips Ultrasound, where she leverages her academic and clinical teaching background to support technologists and enhance patient care delivery. Prior to joining Philips, she spent 15 years in academia as an Associate Professor and Clinical Coordinator for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls. Her academic focus centered on student engagement and developing strategies to foster critical thinking in the classroom.

An alumna of Oregon Tech, Bobbi earned her BS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography with a vascular option in 1999. She went on to complete her Master of Health Science with a concentration in Healthcare Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2017. Bobbi holds multiple credentials through the ARDMS, including RDMS (abdomen, OB/GYN, and breast) and RVT.

She is also a proud member of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Outside of her professional work, Bobbi enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and three children, actively supporting them in all their endeavors.

Vesna Balać, EdD, R.T.(R)(MR)

Dr. Vesna Balać serves as an Assistant Professor, Program Director for Radiography, Assistant Dean, and Department Chair of the Radiologic Sciences Programs at Indiana University Northwest in Gary, Indiana. She completed both her radiography training and Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences at IU Northwest. Her graduate studies include a Master in Adult Education and a Doctorate in Instructional Systems Technology, both from Indiana University Bloomington’s School of Education. Dr. Balać holds dual certification in radiography and magnetic resonance imaging through the ARRT. She actively contributes to the profession through memberships in the ASRT, where she serves on the Editorial Review Board; and the Indiana Society of Radiologic Technologists, where she previously held a board position. Her scholarly work includes peer-reviewed publications and co-authorship of the textbooks Principles of Radiographic Imaging: An Art and a Science and Introduction to Radiologic and Imaging Sciences and Patient Care.

Jay Hicks, EdD, R.T.(R)

Dr. Jay Hicks is an Assistant Professor at the University of Hartford where he serves as the Assistant Director and Clinical Coordinator. He began his radiologic sciences education career in 2000 as a Clinical Instructor for his alma mater, Northwestern State University, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Over the years, he has worked in the roles of Instructor, Clinical Coordinator, Program Director, and Department Chair. He spent 11 years in Chicago with the JRCERT. Dr. Hicks has been an AEIRS member since 2004 and has served on multiple committees and the Editorial Review Board. He is an active member of the ASRT and currently serves on the board of directors for the current Connecticut Society of Radiologic Technologists.

Ashley Balliet, MEd, R.T.(R)(M)

Ashley Balliet is an Assistant Professor and Program Director for the Radiography Program for the College of Allied Health Professions at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Ashley graduated in 2006 from St. Luke's College and Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa. Ashley received a Master of Education from Northcentral University, San Diego, California, in 2017, and is currently pursuing a PhD through UNMC. 

Ashley has served as Education Co-Chair for the Iowa Society of Radiologic Technologists (2018), AEIRS Recruitment Committee member (2014-2016), Membership Committee Vice Chair and Chair (2017-2021), social media appointee (2021-2023), and AEIRS representative for the ASRT BSRS Curriculum Review Committee in 2022. Ashley is currently the President-Elect for the Nebraska Society of Radiologic Technologists. Ashley was the recipient of the 2019 Laverne T. Gurley Annual Meeting Scholarship and accepted into the ASRT Leadership Academy in 2024.

Jeffrey Fannin, MSRS, R.T.(R)(CT), RDMS

Jeffrey Fannin has over 24 years of experience in radiologic science education. Jeff is the Coordinator of the Imaging Sciences programs at Morehead State University (MSU) located in Morehead, Kentucky. In addition to his duties as the Coordinator of both the associate and bachelor’s degree programs, he additionally serves as the Program Director for Radiologic Science, Computed Tomography/Magnetic Resonance Programs.

Jeff received his associate and bachelor's degrees from MSU in 1990, and he earned his master’s degree in radiologic science education from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas in 2001.He holds certifications from the ARRT in radiography and computed tomography. He also holds additional certifications from the ARDMS in abdomen and OB/GYN. 

Jeff is active in grant writing and has been awarded over $850,000.00 in the last year. He is an active member and officer of local, state, and national professional organizations and has published and presented numerous presentations at local, state, regional, and national levels. He is a member of the ASRT, SDMS, and the Kentucky Society of Radiologic Technologists. Additionally, Jeff was appointed by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear to serve on the Kentucky Board of Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
