Presidential Update

Countdown to San Francisco: Big News from AEIRS

Greetings, AEIRS! I am excited to share that the Board of Directors and Staff recently held our virtual Mid-Year Meeting, and it was both productive and energizing. Our committees, Board members, and Staff continue to bring forward thoughtful ideas and innovative initiatives that reflect the growth, global reach, and future-focused mission of our organization.

One of the highlights of the meeting was a proposal from the Scholarship Committee to establish two new international scholarship opportunities. The first would support an AEIRS member traveling abroad to present their work internationally, while the second would bring an international expert to the United States to present at our Annual Meeting. These initiatives reflect our commitment to global collaboration and knowledge exchange. I will share more details about these scholarships during the Business Luncheon at our Annual Meeting in San Francisco, with funding opportunities becoming available beginning in 2027. We are thrilled about the doors these programs will open for our members. I am deeply grateful to our Scholarship Committee for their creativity and dedication. This is exactly the kind of work that moves AEIRS forward.

The Board and Staff also worked diligently to present a balanced budget that supports both sustainability and growth, while allowing for several exciting new initiatives. One of these includes extending an invitation to Dr. Jonathan McNulty from the University College Dublin School of Medicine to speak at our San Francisco meeting. Dr. McNulty is a Professor, Editor-in-Chief of Radiography, and the current President of the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology. We are honored to welcome such a distinguished international leader and look forward to the global perspective and expertise he will bring to our community.

In addition, the Board and Staff made significant progress on the logistics and planning for our upcoming Annual Meeting. Registration opens March 1, and I encourage you to register early and begin making your plans to join us. San Francisco will be an unforgettable setting for learning, connection, and celebration of our profession.

Thank you for your continued engagement, support, and dedication to AEIRS. I look forward to sharing more updates with you soon and to seeing many of you in San Francisco!

With gratitude,

Who We Are

The goal of the Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiologic Sciences, Inc. (AEIRS) is to meet the needs of the educator in imaging and radiologic sciences. AEIRS was founded as the Association of University Radiologic Technologists in 1967. The original objectives were to stimulate an interest in radiologic technology through the academic environment and to provide a means for health care professionals to exchange expertise and ideas.

In 1984, the name was changed to the Association of Educators in Radiological Sciences to more accurately reflect the organization's composition, which expanded to include collegiate and hospital based educational program faculty members in all of the imaging and radiation therapy fields. On June 10, 2006, the name changed to reflect the association’s commitment to inclusion for educators in all modalities. AEIRS shines as the front runner in the trend of organizations to embrace the spirit of modality inclusiveness.

AEIRS is one of the largest organizations for imaging and radiologic science educators, representing educators from the United States, Canada, and countries abroad.
